Fabricating Cationic Lignin Hydrogels for Dye Adsorption

Due to the low content of adsorption-active groups in lignin, its application field adsorption is limited. Herein, we first prepared cationic kraft lignin acrylate, from which a (CKLA) hydrogel was further by acrylamide, and N, N’-methylenebisacrylamide. The morphology, compression properties swelling CKLA hydrogels were investigated. applied as an adsorbent for Congo red. effect dosages, initial concentration red, pH on efficiency maximum red removal obtained at 50 mg/L, 7, 5 mg dosage with 20% content. After five cycles adsorption, still reached more than 80%. showed pseudo-second-order kinetics adsorption. These results demonstrate potential water treatment.
